1. Local integration
The local integration is a hardware-only integration, where the payment terminal and charge point communicate directly via a physical cable.
Considerations
- Limited configuration, typically managed within OCPP.
- Limited pricing flexibility with only fixed kWh pricing is supported.
- Not kiosk-compatible—one terminal per charger is required.
- Payments are handled outside of the Monta platform and are processed via your own PSP.
- The charge point model dictates the integration to control the payment terminal. If you switch to a different hardware provider, you may also need to swap out your payment terminal.
Via the Monta platform, it’s possible to connect the Payment Terminals to your account. That opens up more functionalities such as
- Access to Monta’s receipt service
- Transactions recording to simulate revenue flows
2. Local integration with California pricing
This is identical to option 1 with the added enhancement of flexible pricing, managed through Monta, supporting advanced features such as dynamic pricing and various fee types such as idle fees.
Note: Do note that not all charge point models support California pricing.
3. Cloud integration via proprietary API
A cloud-based solution where Monta directly integrates with payment terminals. It allows setup of payment terminals and connects them to one or multiple charge points directly through Monta’s platform. We currently support the following terminal brands: Payter and Crane Payments Innovation.

5. Cloud self-integration via Monta’s APIs
This integration option allows operators to maintain full control of payments and charges by connecting third-party systems to Monta’s APIs. Operators or third parties can integrate with Monta’s APIs to start and stop charges based on the status of the payment terminal.
- Considerations
